This is Tamron's longest-reach all-in-one for Sony FE: a 10.7x zoom that still weighs 610g and takes 67mm filters. Unlike the 28-200, it has VC optical stabilisation and a VXD linear motor, and it adds a zoom lock and Tamron Lens Utility support through a USB-C port.
The price of that range is a slow aperture: f/4 at 28mm and f/7.1 at 300mm. In good light it covers landscapes, street, events and distant subjects with one lens, and it focuses to 0.19m at the wide end for 1:2.8 close-ups.
Reviewer consensus
Reviewers found it sharp in the centre through most of the range, with the long end softer and the corners weak wide open at both extremes, which is normal for a superzoom. VC works well, and the VXD motor is quick and quiet enough for wildlife and sports in daylight.
The main reservations are the f/7.1 maximum aperture at 300mm, which pushes ISO up indoors and in poor light, and heavy distortion and vignetting that need in-camera correction. It is judged a convenience lens with better AF than older superzooms rather than a match for dedicated telephotos.

Owners buy it as a single travel lens and like the reach, stabilisation and modest size. Many say it replaced a two-lens kit for trips and that VXD focus feels much faster than older superzooms.
Complaints focus on f/7.1 at the long end, softness near 300mm, the barrel extending a long way at full zoom, and front-heaviness on small bodies. The zoom lock is welcomed.
