Samyang AF 60-180mm F2.8 FE

The lens shipped in mid-2026 and full lab tests were still scarce at the time of writing. Early hands-on coverage focuses on the weight and size saving over 70-200mm f/2.8 lenses and on the close-focus ability, which suits portraits and detail shots.

From the rest of the compact zoom series, expect good centre sharpness, quiet AF and some reliance on in-camera corrections for distortion and vignetting. Testers have not yet shown how it compares with Sony's and Tamron's 70-180mm and 70-200mm lenses in edge sharpness and tracking AF.

Owner feedback is still limited. Early buyers mostly mention the low weight and the pairing with the 24-60mm as a two-lens event or travel kit.

The questions owners raise are about the 180mm long end compared with 200mm, AF tracking for sport, and the lack of stabilisation, which leaves it dependent on in-body IS.
