Optical character
The third version of 7Artisans' full-frame 35mm f/1.4 is a small, all-metal manual lens that gives L-Mount bodies such as the Lumix S9, S5 II and Leica SL a fast moderate wide for under $200. The 7-element, 5-group design includes one ED element and one high-refraction element with multi-layer coating, and 7Artisans has confirmed the optics are the same as the Mark II. Wide open the centre is soft and the look is more about character than detail.
The Mark III adds a switch that turns the 10-blade aperture ring from clicked to stepless, which helps video shooters. It takes 52mm filters, weighs about 274g, measures 63 x 50mm and comes in black or titanium. There are no electronic contacts, so the camera records no lens data in EXIF.
