The 35mm F5.6 is a body-cap-sized full-frame pancake: 29mm deep and about 154g, with a fixed f/5.6 aperture and no aperture ring. On small L-Mount bodies such as the Lumix S9 or Sigma fp it keeps the camera close to pocketable, and it suits street and travel shooting where you zone-focus and leave it. Turning the focus ring past infinity to the LOCK position closes a built-in cover over the front element, so you do not need a lens cap.
The optics are 5 elements in 4 groups, with a 0.3m close focus and an all-metal barrel. There are no electronic contacts and no filter thread. Because f/5.6 is the only aperture, exposure has to be set with shutter speed and ISO, and background blur is limited.
