Sigma's mirrorless 24mm f/1.4 Art packs 17 elements, including two FLD, one SLD and four aspherical elements, into a 520g L-Mount body with 72mm filters. Sigma designed it to suppress sagittal coma flare, and pitches it at night-sky and landscape work as well as everyday wide-angle shooting, interiors and environmental portraits.
The barrel carries the full Art control set: an aperture ring with click and lock switches, an AF/MF switch, an AFL button and an MFL switch that locks the focus ring once focus is set for astro work. A rear filter holder sits alongside the front thread, the build is dust- and splash-resistant, and a stepping motor drives quiet AF.
Reviewer consensus
Testers found the centre very good at f/1.4, but the borders and corners soft wide open; they reach good levels at f/2 and the lens peaks from f/2.8 to f/8. Raw files show more than 3 EV of corner shading at f/1.4 and mild barrel distortion, and axial colour fringing is clear wide open. Resistance to flare and ghosting is good, and background blur is smooth for a wide-angle.
Autofocus is quick, quiet and consistent, with some focus breathing. The weather-sealed build, de-clickable aperture ring, MFL switch and rear filter holder get consistent praise. The verdicts split on value: one test recommended it as a good-value alternative to Sony's much pricier 24mm f/1.4 GM, while another felt the soft wide-open corners make it a less obvious pick for astrophotography.
