The Summicron-SL 35 f/2 ASPH. is the compact, non-APO 35mm in Leica's SL line, announced in February 2023 alongside the Summicron-SL 50. At about 400g and 83mm long it is roughly half the weight of the APO-Summicron-SL 35, and Leica pitches it for travel, street, reportage and video, where a light lens on a gimbal or a small body matters.
The design uses 11 elements in 9 groups: three elements carry six aspherical surfaces and three are anomalous partial dispersion glass. Close focus is 0.24m (1:4.6). A linear direct drive moves the focus group, the housing is magnesium and aluminium with dust and splash protection, the outer elements have Leica's Aqua-Dura coating, and it shares the 67mm filter thread and outer dimensions of the Summicron-SL 50.
