Leica Super-Vario-Elmarit-SL 14-24 f/2.8 ASPH.

The first SL lens to reach 14mm, and a constant f/2.8 ultra-wide zoom at 855g: lighter, faster and wider than Leica's older 16-35mm, and about half its price. It is built as the wide partner to the Vario-Elmarit-SL 24-70 f/2.8 for landscape, architecture, interiors and astrophotography.

The design uses 18 elements in 13 groups, including three aspherical lenses and anomalous partial dispersion glass against colour fringing. A fixed metal hood guards the strongly curved front element, so there is no front filter thread; a holder for foil filters sits at the bayonet instead. Close focus is 0.28m throughout the range (1:7.4 at 24mm), autofocus moves a single light element, and the aluminium barrel is dust and splash protected with AquaDura coating.
