Laowa Argus 28mm f/1.2 FF (L-Mount)

Testers agree the centre is very good from f/1.2 and that longitudinal colour fringing is unusually well controlled for an f/1.2 design. Across the frame the picture is less even: one test found sharpness very good to the edges by f/2 at infinity, while another judged the edges weak near maximum aperture and coma high. Close-up backgrounds look smooth, but busy backgrounds at longer distances can turn restless towards the edges because of field curvature.

Both reviews mark down flare and ghosting against bright light and heavy vignetting, measured at about 3.2 EV wide open and still around 1.6 EV stopped down. Distortion is low but wavy, and lateral colour fringing in the corners needs correction in software. The metal build is liked, though the aperture stops are crowded between f/4 and f/16. Given the price and the unique specification, reviewers still see it as a bold and worthwhile lens.
