Laowa 58mm f/2.8 2X Ultra Macro APO (Canon RF)

Laowa's 58mm is a full-frame mirrorless macro that focuses from infinity to 2:1, twice the magnification of a conventional macro lens. Three ED and three ultra-high-refraction elements give it an apochromatic design, and in testing lateral colour fringing is close to absent and axial fringing minimal.

The shorter focal length gives a 40.9° view, wider than Laowa's 90mm 2x macro, which suits product, flat-lay and environmental close-ups. Focusing is internal, the barrel is metal and the 13-blade aperture keeps highlights round. The trade-offs are a minimum focus distance of 18.5cm, so little working room at 2x, and a fully manual design with no electronic contacts.
