Viltrox AF 24mm F1.8 Z

Reviewers found the centre sharp from f/1.8, with mid-frame and corners needing f/4 to f/5.6 to match. Vignetting is heavy wide open and some longitudinal colour fringing shows on high-contrast edges. Coma is moderate, which makes it usable but not class-leading for night skies.

Autofocus is accurate and supports Eye AF, but it is slower and noisier than Nikon's own S-line primes, and early firmware had some hunting in low light. The metal build and the price compared with the NIKKOR Z 24mm f/1.8 S are the main selling points.

Owners like the solid metal construction, the matching look and filter size across the F1.8 set, and the price. Many use it on Z5, Z6 and Zf bodies as an inexpensive alternative to the Nikkor 24mm f/1.8 S.

Common complaints are soft corners at f/1.8, AF that hesitates in dim light, and firmware updates needed for newer Z bodies. Some find the aperture ring stiff or easy to knock out of the A position.
