The S 26mm F8 is a 58g, 18.1mm-thin pancake built to match the Lumix S9. It has a fixed f/8 aperture and manual focus only, so it works as a grab-and-go snapshot lens: set focus once and rely on depth of field. A protective glass over the front element lets it go straight into a bag.
The optics are five elements in five groups, one of them UED glass to control colour fringing. Close focus is 0.25m (0.14x). The trade-offs are built in: no filter thread, no weather sealing in Panasonic's spec table, and the camera's AF and some manual-focus assists do not work with it.
