Laowa 100mm f/2.8 Tilt-Shift 1X Macro (L-Mount)

All three tests found it sharp: very good to excellent in the centre from f/2.8, corners strong wide open in two tests and pretty good in the third, and still good with full shift. Performance peaks around f/5.6 to f/8. Distortion is a negligible pincushion, lateral and longitudinal CA are very low, there is no focus shift, and vignetting is minimal when centred but rises to about 1.3 to 2 EV at full shift. The 15-blade aperture keeps highlights round, although edge bokeh suffers once the lens is tilted.

Shift is of limited use at 100mm. The criticisms are the tripod collar, which sits too far forward and is not rigid enough, a focus ring that is either too short in throw or too loose for precise focusing with tilted planes, weak flare resistance, size and weight, and no electronics or EXIF. Reviewers consider the price fair, and far below first-party tilt-shift macro lenses.
