Optical character

This is a full-frame fisheye zoom with a constant f/2.8 aperture. At 8mm it projects a 180° circular image, and by 15mm it fills the frame as a diagonal fisheye, so one lens covers both looks with a turn of the zoom ring.

It is fully manual: focus, zoom and a clicked aperture ring, with no electronic contacts, so there is no EXIF data and the aperture is set on the lens. Focus goes down to 16cm (0.23x), close enough for exaggerated near-far compositions. The domed front element rules out a filter thread and hood, and at 650g it is solidly built in metal rather than light.

Reviewer consensus

Testers found centre sharpness excellent wide open at 8mm, with the whole circular image sharp from f/2.8 and best around f/5.6 to f/8. At 15mm the centre starts very good while the corners need about f/8 to f/11 for their best. Lateral colour fringing is very low apart from some colouring at the rim of the circular image at 8mm, which crops away; coma is mild at 8mm but needs f/8 to clean up at 15mm.

Flare handling is judged average to better than average for such a wide view, though a ring flare and ghosts can appear with the sun near the centre and sunstars are irregular. Vignetting is moderate at around 2 EV wide open. The build is praised as solid metal; the main complaints are the lack of electronic coupling, the small zoom ring, an aperture ring that is easy to knock, and the 650g weight.
