Laowa 8-15mm f/2.8 FF Zoom Fisheye (L-Mount)

Reviewers find the centre very sharp at both ends of the zoom. At 8mm the corners are already very good at f/2.8 and excellent by f/4; at 15mm the edges need f/5.6-f/8 to catch up. Lateral colour fringing is low and there is no longitudinal CA or focus shift to speak of. Vignetting is moderate, around 2 EV wide open, and the black surround at 8mm can mislead the camera's metering.

Flare resistance is rated as average to better than average, with ring-shaped flare possible when the sun sits near the centre at the short end. Coma is mild at 8mm wide open but needs stopping down at 15mm, and sunstars are irregular. The metal build is solid. Both reviews see it as good value at $699 next to brand-name fisheye zooms; both regret the lack of electronic contacts, and OpticalLimits also finds it a bit heavy.
