Sigma's mirrorless 20mm f/1.4 is aimed at night skies and dramatic wide views, but unlike most fast ultra-wides it takes 82mm front filters as well as rear gel filters. Its front element is among the largest double-sided aspherics Sigma has ever made, and together with two SLD elements and two more aspherics it is designed to suppress sagittal coma flare at f/1.4.
The controls are built for astro and video work: an MFL switch locks the focus ring, there is a lens-heater retainer, and the aperture ring has both a click switch and a lock. At 630g it is sizeable but much lighter than Sigma's DSLR-era 20mm f/1.4.
Reviewer consensus
Reviewers rate it as a strong, well-priced lens with very good stopped-down performance. Wide open it is good rather than outstanding, with a touch of overall softness that clears noticeably by f/2 and peaks around f/2.8. Vignetting and distortion are well handled once profiles are applied, and colour fringing is minor.
Autofocus is fast and accurate, mostly quiet, with an occasional faint buzz. Criticisms are the length with the hood fitted and the fact that some rivals are crisper at f/1.4.

Owners like it for Milky Way and aurora shooting, and the front filter thread is a frequent reason for choosing it over bulbous-front alternatives. The switch panel and build quality are well liked.
Recurring comments are about size and weight relative to Sony's lighter 20mm f/1.8 G, and the large, deep petal hood. Some owners note softer corners at f/1.4 than they expected from an Art lens.
