Laowa 15mm f/4.5 Zero-D Shift (L-Mount)

Reviewers rate it a capable and affordable tool for architecture and interiors. The centre is very sharp wide open, while the mid-frame and corners need f/8 to f/11; lab charts show off-centre sharpness falling away faster than most ultra-wides. Fully shifted corners hold up well and resolve more than Canon's TS-E 17mm in one direct comparison, though the extremes of the shift range smear slightly and staying within about 8 to 9mm keeps the frame clean. Distortion is near zero unshifted, there is no focus shift, and 10-point sunstars are crisp from f/5.6.

The drawbacks are heavy vignetting in shifted corners (about 3.6 EV wide open), some barrel distortion and asymmetric lateral colour when shifted, mid-frame fringing, and flare or ghosting with direct light at wider apertures. Handling is praised over pricier tilt-shift lenses, with a stiff but precise shift ring and full-stop aperture clicks. Missing tilt, filters, weather sealing and EXIF are the practical limits.
