Optical character
The Nokton 50mm F1 is, in Cosina's words, the fastest standard lens Voigtländer makes for full-frame cameras, and the RF version is designed specifically for Canon's mount. Its first element is a GA (ground aspherical) lens made in-house, with a second aspherical element at the rear, which keeps the design to nine elements in seven groups and the lens to 64mm long and 650g.
At f/1 it is soft with darkened corners, and from about f/2 it becomes crisp across the frame. A floating mechanism stabilises image quality down to 0.45m, and the 12-blade aperture can be switched to stepless operation for video. Electronic contacts pass EXIF data, support magnification, peaking and Canon's focus guide (not on the EOS RP), and enable 3-axis in-body stabilisation.
