Optical character
One of Samyang's first two Canon RF lenses, the MF 85mm F1.4 RF puts the long-running 85/1.4 optics into a weather-sealed barrel for EOS R bodies. The design is nine elements in seven groups with one hybrid aspherical element and Ultra Multi Coating.
It is aimed at portraits: smooth, soft backgrounds at f/1.4, with eight curved aperture blades. Focus and aperture are fully manual through a smooth focus ring and a tactile aperture ring, and there are no electronic contacts, so no aperture data reaches the camera or EXIF. It focuses to 1.1m (0.09x), takes 72mm filters and weighs 730g.
