Optical character
The RF Nokton 40mm F1.2 brings Cosina's compact f/1.2 forty to Canon's full-frame mirrorless bodies. Its eight elements in six groups include two aspherical elements and the 40mm focal length gives a 54.9° angle of view.
The lens is 56.4mm long, weighs 400g and takes 58mm filters, with a dedicated screw-in hood. It focuses to 0.3m (1:4.9), and the 10-blade aperture ring has a switch for clickless operation. Electronic contacts pass EXIF data, support Canon's magnification, peaking and focus guide (not on the EOS RP), and feed 3-axis in-body stabilisation on bodies that have it. Cosina warns of a possible magenta cast at the frame edges on the EOS R, RP and R6.
